Long lasting Heather

Posted by blueberrytalk on March 8, 2012

A month ago the bees were gathering nectar and pollen from the Heather blossoms. Today the bees are working the same Heather variety which shows no sign of letting up. This date also marks the first pussywillows with pollen. In the last week we have seen bees high in the cedars gathering pollen.

February Heather

The bees are mostly in the heather for nectar but they do bring back some pollen. The honeybee in the picture has some pollen but it is small compared to the pollen loads from the Hazelnut trees.
